Sunset Beach,
North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii
If there is such a thing as a perfect wave, you’ll likely find it on Oahu’s
North Shore. The big, glassy winter waves of this legendary surf mecca attract
the best surfers in the world. Stretching for more than 7 miles, the beaches of
the North Shore host the world’s premier surfing competitions including the
Super Bowl of wave-riding, the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. The winter months
between November and February are the best times to watch the pros go to work.
These massive waves can swell up to thirty feet or more and can even be
dangerous for experienced surfers so please heed warning signs. In the summer,
from May to September, the waves subside creating the perfect spots for swimming
and sunbathing.

Black's Beach, San
Diego
The southern portion of Black's Beach is known to surfers as one of the most
powerful surf breaks in Southern California. The waves gain their power due to
the focusing effects of Scripps Canyon, an underwater canyon just offshore in
the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park. Because of the large surf and aggressive
crowds, Black's is a dangerous surfing location, suitable for advanced surfers
only.
Black’s Beach is located about three miles north of the popular La Jolla Shores
beach in La Jolla, San Diego, California, below the bluffs of Torrey Pines,
which extend up to 300-foot above the sandy beach. On the bluffs above Black’s
Beach are the Torrey Pines Gliderport, Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course, Salk
Institute for Biological Studies, and Torrey Pines State Reserve. To the north
of Black’s Beach lies the rest of Torrey Pines State Beach, which altogether
stretches 4.5-mile from Del Mar, California, past the Los Peñasquitos Lagoon
toward Scripps Beach in the south. The beach is near the Scripps Institution of
Oceanography and the University of California, San Diego and is popular with the
students of the university for sunbathing and surfing. Many students can be seen
walking from the university to Black's. Popular Nude Beach.
Cape Hatteras area,
N.C
Midway along the East Coast, a sliver of sand extends far into the Atlantic,
exposed to storms from every conceivable direction. With less crippling
continental shelf than anywhere else on the coast, swells hit the beaches
chock-full of force. This combination of elements, as well as tricky currents
and offshore shoals, has resulted in countless sunken ships just off the beach,
earning it the nickname "Graveyard of the Atlantic." The same elements that made
it the biggest shipping hindrance in history now serve to make Cape Hatteras the
focal point of East Coast surfing.

Trestles, San Clemente, Calif.
From San Clemente Take 5 Fwy South, exit on cristianitos make left at stop sign,
go over the freeway and make left at next stop sign. Parking lot on right hand
side.follow crowed to go down. Don't go there with the idea to get a lot of wave
and to snake people or you'll get yourself killed. Very nice crowed, very local
. "be cool and they'll be cool". Surf the inside first and make you're way to
the point after a few days.
Trestles is a fresh breath of air within the folds of the suffocating Orange
Curtain. With so many breaks in the area serving fast-food-type waves, it's nice
to know that there's a spot that still requires a little effort. Surprisingly
enough, the effort to get there doesn't keep enough people away. Trestles is
always crowded during summer, particularly at Lowers. And the rest of the breaks
-- Uppers, Cotton's, Church and everywhere in between -- have their share of
hungry waveriders. Still, it's possible to get your share of quality waves; the
kind where you hit the lip a half dozen times and start to think you're much
better than you really are. All of the breaks at Trestles have that magic -- the
ability to keep you coming back making the 20-minute walks, dodging the train
and the surfers, to score that one ego-boosting wave.
